These majestic buildings lost their monopoly on audiences and, one by one, started to draw their final curtain. A few of the most spectacular theatres remain abandoned, shuttered and falling apart. Speaking about the venues, Matthew says: "It's an era I never knew, and perhaps one I would never believe was as fantastic as it was were it not for the fact that I have seen the remains. "While theatre and film are still a part of our culture, the ability to do so in a majestic palace of a theatre is something I wonder if future generations will ever know." While Matthew remains tight-lipped on the locations of these snaps, they still show a fascinating modern look into a bygone era.
